Leadership

Leadership – work that establishes strategy and business plans, builds the business culture, inspires the business’s people to do their best for customers, the business, and themselves; being a creative force in the business.

• Gaining clarity of what is most important to you, your values and aspirations.  The only reason to go into business is to get more life.  But what does more life mean to you?
• You are in business but how clear are you of what you are building?  What will the business look like when it is complete?  How will it make money?  What will be the look and feel? What are the specific long and medium term goals?
• Leadership starts with leading yourself.  How focused are you?  How effective are you?  As a role model for your business, what are you communicating to your people?

Systematics 

Systematics – working with employees to create systematic processes for doing the work of the business; organizing the business and its systems; viewing the business first as a system of systems, and second as a network of people; approaching problems as opportunities for creating effective systems  rather than occasions for blame or punishment.

• Any business is made up of process, people, technology and information.  But it is process that knits the business together.  They are the building blocks of any business.  We look at creating a system for developing your systems, and a system for on-going quantification and innovation of those systems.  The work never stops.  It is continuous improvement and innovation.  Do you have a system for developing your systems?
• What is the organizational structure that will best deliver the result you want your business to deliver?  How do you organize the work of the business?  What are the positions in the business and what are the results and accountabilities that you want each position to deliver?

Supervision 

Supervision – the work of overseeing and mentoring the people in the business; developing them; finding the effective balance of autonomy and micro –management; making the best use of the people of the business ; designing an effective system of rewards and disciplines that tap into the motivations of people.

• Having defined the work of the business, the processes that are required to do that work and the positions that will be accountable, how do you work with your people to ensure they have the resources and support they need?  What will be your coaching and mentoring process?  How will you remunerate them in a way that motivates them?  How will you discipline them if required in a way that is humane yet powerfully addresses the issues that need to be addressed?
