Who we are
What Enterprise Leadership New Zealand is all about
Enterprise Leadership New Zealand brings together more than thirty years of consulting experience to help small business owners build businesses that serve everyone they touch.
Many small business web sites concentrate on delivering enticing messages to buy products and services that promise the hope of a better future. However, they provide little in the way of useful information that can be put to use without paying out money.
We are here to help
We have done the hard yards so you don't have to. We have read the books about leadership, management, strategy, finance and operations, been to the courses and seminars, been trained as coaches, have been in small business ourselves - for more than 30 years.
From all these years of experience we bring to you knowledge we have gained about what works, and what does not.
What we have learned from working with many business owners is that the same frustrations keep popping up in just about every type of business, no matter how big or small and no matter what they do.
So, if you have a business frustration, we have probably seen or heard of it before and can help you find a way through.
The loneliness of small business ownership
When you own a small business you take on many responsibilities, often with little knowledge about how to undertake them. If you run into trouble you struggle to find dependable advice that can help you through.
If you are lucky, you may have an experienced business person who is willing to act as a mentor and guide, but most other small business owners are just as busy as you are and are searching for the same answers.
Where free advice is available, it is of limited value, but sometmes real gems can be found. That leaves paid-for advice, and that can be expensive and you are unsure of how the value will be delivered.
Delivering our experience back to you
We now want to deliver our experience back to small business owners and help them navigate their way through the daily frustrations that cause them grief. You might say that we are here to deliver knowledge, advice, a different way of thinking, and general help and guidance through our coaching programs.
Who are we?
Chris Gregory
Chris comes from a small business family. His parents were small business owners, as are many of his relatives - and so is he.
He trained as a chartered accountant and spent many years in accounting, audit and business advisory roles in New Zealand and the UK. As a partner in the international accounting firm Grant Thornton he was involved in accounting and audit technical committees in the Asia-Pacific region and in training audit and accounting staff in New Zealand.
However, his real interest is in business development and in 1999 was trained as an E-Myth Consultant, becoming a Senor Consultant in 2002. In 2006 he became a Senior Consultant with The Alliance for Enterprise Leadership Inc.
This allowed him to work more closely with small business owners to bring vision, structure and process into their businesses. They were then able to get more freedom to manage a business that works, and to spend time with their families and time to pursue other interests. When he sees that happen, it brings a great sense of satisfaction.
In 2006 Chris was a judge in the Westpac Enterprise North Shore Business Excellence Awards.
Outside of work Chris loves skiing, fishing, travel, community service through Rotary mentoring through Business Mentors New Zealand, and spending time with his grown-up children and grandchildren.
Peter Dalton
Peter's background is in the advertising industry, and that is where he spent much of his working life. During that time he worked with many organisations, large and small, helping them develop marketing and advertising strategies to attract more and better business.
One day a friend asked for help with some business problems he was struggling with. While Peter could help in some areas, there were others where his knowledge was limited and he had to seek help in books and on the web.
That's when he discovered that E-Myth Worldwide had a Certified E-Myth Consultant program and a system that could help small business owners.
Peter trained as a E-Myth Consultant in 1999 and qualified as a Senior Consultant in 2002.
"I get great satisfaction watching small business owners grow as they aquire new knowledge and apply it in their businesses. When they see changes for the better taking place and get time to spend with their families and friends, they become real advocates for seeking help from outside of their business" he says.
"No business owner knows everything, and nor dor I" says Peter. "New knowledge can be found everywhere. If you have a willingness to apply it in your business and measure the results, you are on the road to a better future."

The Full Spectrum Business Development Program is the proprietory business development program developed for the Alliance for Enterprise Leadership Inc by its founder and CEO, Alex Alexander.
Errol D. “Alex” Alexander spent twelve years in the U.S. Army rising through the ranks from private to captain. On leaving the Army he spent the next twelve years as a banker, holding positions as CEO of a startup bank, chief executive of an international trade finance company, vice president of marketing for a $4 billion commercial finance company, and regional manager of an 11-state territory.
A further twelve years of his career were spent in management consulting, first as Senior Management Consultant with the prestigious Stanford Research Institute and later as proprietor of his own consulting practice, Alexander & Associates. After a five year foray into academia, teaching strategic management and leadership at Santa Clara University and Menlo College in the San Francisco Bay Area, Alex has turned his attention to the rapidly growing field of business coaching.
Alex graduated from the United States Military Academy (West Point) with a BS degree in engineering. He earned his MBA degree from Harvard Business School with a dual concentration in Marketing and Finance.
Alex has published a book on investor behavior and numerous articles in the field of banking and investments. He created the one-of-a-kind Business Mastery Program (equivalent to an MBA for small business owners), which is currently delivered worldwide through The E-Myth Academy of Santa Rosa, California to more than 1,500 active client businesses. He has been quoted in Business Week, The Journal of Commerce, and other publications. His most recent publication is an article in the special leadership issue of the London Business School’s Business Strategy Review magazine, entitled, “The Rule of Three: A Unified Theory of Leadership.”
